Public Notice:

Please be advised that property owner, Anthony Wright, has applied to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Environmental Protection Division for a variance to encroach within the 25 foot State Waters buffer of a tributary to Hard Labor Creek. The subject site is located off of Hightower Road approximately 3 miles east of Rutledge, GA.

Applicant proposes to impact approximately 80 linear feet of stream and buffer to renovate an existing 0.8 acre pond. The proposed work includes raising the existing top of dam to further increase the dam s storage potential. The dam's failing core will be rebuilt to prevent seepage. New siphon pipes will be installed as the pond's principal spillway. The repairs and improvements will improve the dam s stability and increase the life span.
