A RESOLUTION DIRECTING THE
CLEAN UP OF CHARLES
MATTHEWS PROPERTY AT 890
EPHESUS CHURCH ROAD,
POULAN, GEORGIA 31781.
WHEREAS, it has come to the at-
tention of the Board of Commis-
sioners of Worth County, Georgia by
and through its Code Enforcement
Officer that Charles Matthews main-
tains on his property at 890 Ephe-
sus Church Road, Poulan, Georgia
31781 a nuisance, health hazard
and eye sores on his property which
includes piles of paper, plastic, fur-
niture, carpet, old fence wire, broken
concrete, old tires, scrap wood, in-
operable and broken trailers and
tractors and contains pits dug on the
property which constitute a danger
and health hazard, and unsafe and
falling down shelters or outbuildings,
all of which promote the infestation
of the property by rats, varmints and
other dangerous vermin; and,
WHEREAS, these conditions con-
stitute a clear and present danger to
the health and safety of the citizens
of Worth County, Georgia, as well
as presenting an eye sore of the
worse kind; and, WHEREAS, over a
period of more than six months, the
Commission has caused notices to
be sent to Charles Matthews in-
cluding hand delivery of notices by
Worth County Sheriff, Freddie
Thompkins, describing conditions of
the property and demanding that it
be cleaned up to comply with Geor-
gia Law and Ordinances of Worth
County; and, WHEREAS, the said
Charles Matthews has failed and re-
fused to make any clean up efforts
to the property but rather has in-
creased the toxic piles of trash con-
tained on the property; NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by
the Board of Commissioners of
Worth County and it is resolved by
the authority thereof as follows:
1 - That the Clerk of this Commis-
sion send a copy of this resolution to
the said Charles Matthews.
2 - That Charles Matthews be given
and additional 15 days from the
date of this notice to cure all of the
defects on his property.
3 - That should the conditions not be
cleared within the 15-day period,
that the Chairman of the Commis-
sion is authorized to instruct the
Public Works Department of Worth
County to clean up and remove all
of the trash, debris, and piles of junk
from the property and likewise raze
any outbuildings that are dilapidated
and creating a danger of injury to
persons.
4 - That the cost of the remedial ac-
tion, if and when taken by the Public
Works Department of Worth County
shall be assessed against Charles
Matthews and any property he may
own in Worth County, with such as-
sessment being enforced in the
same manner as delinquent taxes
are enforced in this County.
