Grand Jury Presentments

November Term 2012

We, the undersigned, being the officers of the duly impaneled Grand Jury for the November Term 2012 of the Meriwether County Superior Court, respectfully submit the following presentments:

On Monday, November 19, 2012, the Grand jury of the November Term 2012 of the Meriwether County Superior Court was sworn in, in Open Court, before the Honorable Allen Keeble, Judge of the Superior Court for the State of Georgia.

The officers of the Grand Jury were as follows:

Commendations

The Grand Jury makes the following commendations:

We, the Grand Jury, commend the Honorable Allen Keeble, for the sincerity and dignity demonstrated in his charge. We further wish him well on his retirement and thank him for his many years of public service.

We, the Grand Jury, commend the District Attorney's Office, District Attorney Peter Skandalakis, Assistant District Attorney Robert Peterkin and Assistant District Attorney Andrea Newton for the efficiency and professional manner in which they handled their responsibilities.

We, the Grand Jury, commend all the law enforcement personnel for their professional and efficient manner in which they perform their duties.

We, the Grand jury, would like to express our appreciation to Sheriff Steve Whitlock and his staff for their assistance to this panel. We further thank him for his many years of public service to the citizens of Meriwether County.

We, the Grand Jury, would like to express our appreciation to Louise Tigner Garrett, Clerk of the Superior Court, and her staff for their continuous support to the Court and the citizens of Meriwether County.

We, the Grand Jury, commend Babs Gordon for her service as bailiff for the Grand Jury.

Recommendation and appointments

This Grand Jury was charged with the duty of recommending Grand Juror, Juror, and Bailiff fees to the County Commissioners for the year 2013. We respectfully recommend to the County Commissioners that the Grand Juror and Juror fees remain the same at $40 per day and $70 per day for Bailiff fees.

We, the Grand Jury, appoint the following individuals to the Meriwether County Board of Equalization Ms. Ladeen C. Howard, currently an alternate member, to serve as a member for a term beginning January 1, 2013, thru December 31, 2015. We, the Grand Jury, re-appoint Mr. Joseph Proctor, currently an alternate member, to serve as an alternate member beginning on January 1, 2013, and ending on December 31, 2015. We, the grand Jury, re-appoint Ms. Elaine Lyons, to serve as an alternate member beginning January 1, 2013, and ending December 31, 2013. We, the Grand Jury appoint Mr. Kerry Lon James to serve as an alternate member beginning January 1, 2013, and ending December 31, 2015.

The Grand Jury recommends that these presentments by published in the Manchester Star Mercury and the Meriwether Vindicator, and that these newspapers be paid for such publication.
