NOTICE OF SEIZURE OF PERSONAL PROPERTY VALUED AT LESS THAN $25,000.00 Pursuant to O.C.G.A. Sec. 16-13-49, any person claiming an interest in the following property is hereby notified that on July 11, 2012, said property was seized by officers of the Glynn/Brunswick Narcotics Enforcement Team (GBNET) from Curtis Brown: Five Hundred and Eleven Dollars ($511.00) in United States Currency. The conduct giving rise to said seizure was as follows: On July 11, 2012, in Glynn County, Georgia, officers with the Glynn County Police Department were conducting a vehicle safety compliance check on Carteret Road. Officer Eugene Smith was tasked with intercepting vehicles attempting to avoid the check point. Officer Smith observed the driver of a silver Honda make a u-turn after seeing the check point and then begin backing into a blind curve after seeing his GCPD patrol vehicle. Officer Smith conducted a traffic stop on the silver Honda and detected a strong odor of green marijuana coming from the vehicle. Curtis Brown denied having any illegal substances in the vehicle and gave Officer Smith permission to search the vehicle. Officer Smith found a plastic storage bag in the center console containing a quantity of marijuana that had been packaged in individual plastic bags along with the United States currency. A scale and additional plastic storage bags were located in the vehicle. Officers with GBNET concluded the investigation at the scene. Mr. Brown admitted that he was selling the marijuana. Said property was used or intended for use to facilitate a violation of O.C.G.A. Sec. 16-13-30 and/or was proceeds derived or realized therefrom. You are further notified that you may file a claim within thirty (30) days of the second publication of this Notice of Seizure by sending the claim by certified mail, return receipt requested, to the District Attorney and to the Seizing agency at the addresses shown below.
