Notice is hereby given that the City of Blackshear will hold a Public Hearing on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at 6:45p.m. at the Blackshear City Hall, 318 Taylor St. to discuss approving the following request:

Text Amendment addition to the Pierce County Development Code Section 904 Multi-Family (MF), Tab (4), (l) concerning manufactured housing within the City limits of Blackshear.

Any further information can be obtained from the Community Development Office at 312 Nichols Street, Suite 3, Blackshear, Georgia.

SPECIAL ELECTION IN PIERCE COUNTY, GEORGIA

IN RE: A Resolution for the Board of Commissioners of Pierce County, Georgia to impose a special One Percent (1%) sales and use tax.

TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF PIERCE COUNTY, GEORGIA

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on the 6th day of November, 2012, an election will be held at the regular polling places in all the election districts of Pierce County, Georgia ( he County , at which time there will be submitted to the qualified voters of the county for their determination the question of whether a one percent county special purpose local option sales and use tax (the PLOST shall be imposed on all sales and uses in the special district created in the County for a period of six (6) years for the raising of approximately $11,000,000.00 for the purpose of funding capital outlay projects ( he Projects specified in the form of the ballot set forth below.

WHEREAS it is necessary and desirable to hold a special election to resolve the question, which is as follows:

( ) YES

( ) NO

Shall a special one percent (1%) sales and use tax be imposed in the special district of Pierce County for a period of time not to exceed six (6) years and for the raising of an estimated amount of $11,000,000.00 for the purpose of:

(1) Funding of projects for Pierce County;

Pay debt on Administrative Building and Library, Building Maintenance & Construction, Building & Maintain Road, Bridges & Streets; Public Safety, Public Works & Cultural & Recreational Facilities.

(2) Funding of projects for the Municipality of Blackshear;

Water & Sewer Infrastructure, Public Safety; Road Maintenance; Recreational/Historical/Cultural Facilities; Downtown Development Facilities; Road & Street Construction Maintenance.

(3) Funding of projects for the Municipality of Patterson;

Road & Street Construction & Maintenance; Recreational Facilities Public Safety; Capital Outlay of Eagle Station.

(4) Funding of projects for the Municipality of Offerman;

Road & Street Construction & Maintenance; and Capital outlay for Cultural Recreational Facilities.

NOW THEREFORE it is considered and adjudged, as follows:

(a) A special election to resolve this question is hereby called and set for November 6, 2012. The polls shall remain open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. on the date of the election.

(b) If the majority of the votes cast are YES, then the one percent (1%) Sales and Use Tax will become effective October 1, 2013. If the majority of the votes cast are NO, then the resolution shall be null and void.

(c) Registration to vote in this special election shall end on October 6, 2012.

(d) Notice of this special election shall be published in The Blackshear Times, the official legal organ of Pierce County, Georgia on August 1, 2012 and for once a weeK for 4 weeks immediately preceding the election.

(e) Said special election shall be conducted in accordance with the laws and rules in force which govern such elections (FEDERAL AND STATE) and for those persons qualified to vote therein, who are properly registered to vote in Pierce County, Georgia.

The Year Support Petition of Renate M. Youmans, for a year support from the estate of Thomas L. Youmans, Jr., deceased, for decedent surviving spouse having been duly filed, all interested persons are hereby notified to show cause, if any they have, on or before August 6, 2012, why said petition should not be granted.

All objections to the petition must be in writing, setting forth the grounds of any such objections, and must be filed on or before the time stated in the preceding sentence. If any objections are filed, a hearing will be scheduled at a later date. If no objections are filed, the petition may be granted without a hearing.
