PUBLIC NOTICE The Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Savannah will be accepting applications beginning immediately through Friday, June 29, 2012 at 12:00 noon, for appointments to the following Boards, Commissions and Authorities: AGING SERVICES ADVISORY COUNCIL . Twenty-nine (29) members appointed to three (3) year terms with two (2) members appointed by City Council to represent the City of Savannah on the Coastal Georgia Regional Redevelopment Center Aging Services Advisory Council. The membership of the Aging Services Advisory Council consists of persons over 60 years of age or consumers, aging advocates, other interested individuals, and local elected officials, one whom should be a minority. This Council meets quarterly in Richmond Hill, Georgia and from time to time meets with staff to review budgets; get updates on new programs; and provides input on how current and new programs are developed. One (1) appointment available. COASTAL REGION METROPOLITAN PLANNING ORGANIZATION CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMITTEE : Thirty (30) members, with seven (7) appointed by City Council to two-year (2) terms. Responsible for advising the CUTS Policy Committee on matters of public opinion concerning study findings and recommendations. Three (3) appointments available. CODE ENFORCEMENT APPEALS BOARD Nine (9) members appointed to fill overlapping three-year terms by City Council. Three appointees must be qualified in the fields of architecture and/or structural engineering. Hear appeals when errors are alleged and other matters affecting property subject to procedures set forth in the Nuisance Abatement Ordinance. Seven (7) appointments are available. ELECTRICAL APPEALS AND ADVISORY BOARD On recommendation from the Mayor, seven (7) members are appointed four (4) year terms by City Council: four (4) licensed electrical contractors; one (1) registered consulting electrical engineer, and one electrical contractor. All members shall have no less than six (6) years experience in professional field. Determines appeals to decision of the electrical inspectors of the City. One (1) Power Company Engineer, One (1) Electrical Contractor, and one (1) Administrative for Power Company appointments are available. GREATER SAVANNAH INTERNATIONAL ALLIANCE The Greater Savannah International Alliance shall consist of 19 members all of whom shall be approved by vote of the Mayor and Aldermen. The term of office for each member of the Greater Savannah International Alliance shall be three years, except that of those members first appointed, six shall be appointed for one year, six for two years, and seven for three years. When the terms of these first appointed shall expire, their successors shall be appointed for three-year terms. A member of the Greater Savannah International Alliance shall not serve for more than two consecutive, three-year terms. The members of the Greater Savannah International Alliance shall be a demographically broad representation of the community and economy in the Savannah Metropolitan Area with an interest in international issues. One (1) appointment is available. KEEP SAVANNAH BEAUTIFUL Twenty-five (25) members appointed to overlapping terms of three (3) years by City Council. An advisory board that works with the City in developing a program to control litter and assist beautification efforts. Ten (10) appointments are available. PARK AND TREE COMMISSION Nine (9) members appointed to overlapping three (3) year terms by City Council. Charged with directing the activities to maintain the parks, squares and trees of Savannah. Term Limit: No member may serve more than three (3) consecutive three year terms. Three (3) appointments are available. PROPERTY MAINTENANCE AND ENFORCEMENT BOARD The board of appeals shall consist of a minimum of three (3) members who are qualified by experience and training to pass on matters pertaining to property maintenance and who are not employees of the jurisdiction. The code official shall be an ex-officio member but shall have no vote on any matter before the board. The board shall be appointed by the chief appointing authority, and shall serve staggered and overlapping terms. Two (2) appointments and two (2) alternate appointments are available. SAVANNAH/CHATHAM BOARD OF HEALTH . To determine the health needs and resources by collecting, analyzing and evaluating health data pertaining to the health of community and assuring compliance to local and state requirements. Two (2) members appointed to four (4) year terms. One (1) appointments available. SAVANNAH HOSPITAL AUTHORITY Seven (7) members appointed to overlapping four year terms by City Council. Arranges the contractual agreements between Candler General Hospital and purchases of hospital authority bonds used to finance the building of their complex off DeRenne. Five (5) appointments are available. SAVANNAH RECREATION COMMISSION : Twelve (12) members are appointed to three (3) year terms by City Council. Eligible for reappointment. Serves as an advisory body on recreational programs and facilities. Five (5) appointments available. SAVANNAH RESOURCE RECOVERY DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY . Consisting of five (5) members appointed for four-year(4) terms. No term limits: resident of Chatham County. Membership includes: An Alderman, City Manager, City Finance Director, City Sanitation Director, and a citizen. One (1) citizen appointment available. TOURISM ADVISORY COMMITTEE: Creation and composition. There is hereby created a tourism advisory committee, which shall consist of 13 members appointed by the mayor and aldermen. One shall be a representative of the lodging industry; one shall be a representative of a tour company; one shall be a member of the Savannah Visitors Bureau; one shall be a representative from a Historic District museum or attraction; two shall be members of the Downtown Neighborhood Association; two shall be members of Historic Savannah Foundation; one shall be a representative of the food, beverage and/or retail industries; one shall be at large with demonstrated knowledge of the history and/or architecture of the Historic District; two shall be residents at-large and one shall be a member at-large. Three-year (3) term. Two-term (2) limit. Members can be re-appointed after they have been off for 1-year. One (1) appointment available; Member of the food, beverage, and/or retail industry. TRAFFIC CALMING COMMITTEE The Traffic Calming Committee shall consist of nine (9) members all of whom shall be approved by vote of the Mayor and Aldermen. The term of office for each member of the Traffic Calming Committee shall be three years, except that of those members first appointed, three shall be appointed for one year, three for two years, and three for three years. When the terms of these first appointed shall expire, their successors shall be appointed for three-year terms. A member of the Traffic Calming Committee shall not serve for more than two consecutive, three year terms. The members of the Traffic Calming Committee shall be a demographically broad representation of the community in the Savannah Metropolitan Area with an interest in Traffic Calming. Committee members must live in the City limits of Savannah. Four (4) appointments available.
