The Winder Housing Authority (WHA) will be accepting applications for the Public Housing Program beginning Tuesday, November 13, 2012, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. EST, Monday-Thursday.

Interested persons should call (770) 867-7495 ext. 231 to have an application mailed, or, pick up an application at 11 Horton St., Winder, GA.

Persons with disabilities who require a reasonable accommodation in completing an application may call the WHA to make special arrangements. Hearing impaired individuals may call our TDD number at (770) 868-0675 (please note that this line will only accept TDD hearing impaired calls/signals).

Completed applications must be returned to 11 Horton Street Winder, Georgia. Only completed application will be accepted.


Public housing is limited to low-income families and individuals. WHA determines your eligibility based on: 1) annual gross income; 2) whether you qualify as elderly, a person with a disability, or as a family; and 3) U.S. citizenship or eligible immigration status. If you are eligible, the WHA will check your references to make sure you and your family will be good tenants. WHA will deny admission to any applicant whose habits and practices may be expected to have a detrimental effect on other tenants or on the project s environment. All screening is done in accordance with WHA s Admissions & Continued Occupancy Policy.

The family s yearly gross income may not exceed the Barrow County, GA. low-income limits of:

1 person $38,850

2 person $43,750

3 person $49,950

4 person $55,450

5 person $59,900

6 person $64,350

7 person $68,800

8 person $73,200

Once apparent eligibility is determined, applicants will be placed on a waiting list, in order of the preferences they certify to on their application.
