Resolution

WHEREAS, the Jackson County Board of Commissioners formally agree to place a referendum on the July 31, 2012 election ballot to amend the ordinance to control and regulate the sale of distilled spirits, wine, and malt beverages.

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia has allowed the local government authority to place the decision of alcohol sales on Sunday for the citizens of the community to decide.

WHEREAS, the Jackson County Board of Commissioners would like for citizens to decide to allow or disapprove of consumption of distilled spirits, wine, and malt beverages on Sundays between the hours of 12:30 p.m. until midnight in any appropriately licensed establishment.

WHEREAS, The Jackson County Board of Commissioners would like for citizens to decide to allow or disapprove of the retail packaged sale of wine and malt beverages on Sundays between the hours 12:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. at any appropriately licensed establishment.

WHEREAS, the Jackson County Board of Commissioners directs staff to submit the appropriate documentation to the State of Georgia by May 1, 2012 to have this issue on the July 31, 2012 election ballot.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the Jackson County Board of Commissioners hereby agrees to allow the citizens of unincorporated Jackson County, Georgia to vote on Sunday consumption of distilled spirits, wine and malt beverages; and Sunday sales of retail packaged wine and malt beverages.
